The March 2011 nuclear accident at the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant has caused mutations in the pale grass blue (Zizeeria mahaI), a common Japanese butterfly.

Researchers have found changes in the eyes, and in leg, antennae and wing shapes, and these are being passed on to the next generation.
