Mussels can stick to nearly any kind of surface under water, and researchers have used this to inspire a new glue that can be ‘unglued’ on demand. These could be used to fix leaks in underwater pipelines, seal bleeding wounds during operations, make gels that heal themselves, and would mean that components in computers for example could be ‘unglued’ to replace components or for recycling.
