Some people sneeze when they look at the sun. This may be because the optic nerve (the nerve to the eye) runs close to the trigeminal nerve (a nerve to the face, involved in sneezing) and when one nerve gets stimulated it triggers the other. This is called photic sneezing, and runs in families. About one in four people have photic sneezes.

The act of sneezing is called sternutation. In some people, pulling hair causes sneezing.
